New wind farms in Poland – where will work begin in 2026?
Wind farms in our country aren't sprouting up like mushrooms after rain, but they are becoming increasingly common sights. And it's no wonder, as their development is associated with a wide range of benefits. Consequently, in 2026 alone, several projects, both large and small, will be implemented, slowly changing the face of Polish energy. This article focuses mainly on onshore wind farms, although it's worth noting that offshore ones are also being introduced here.
What will change in onshore wind power in 2026? Where will work start?
The beginning of 2026 is marked by RES auction projects and those unlocked by new regulations. What's this all about? At the beginning of this year, a draft amendment to the RES Act was submitted, aiming to streamline procedures in onshore wind energy.. And although there was some liberalisation in 2023, the entire investment process still takes an average of up to 7 years. The European Union views this unfavourably – according to directive 2023/2413, it should take less than 2 years.
It is worth highlighting that in the first month of this year alone, two new wind farms were launched in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship – in Jastrowo and Okonek. Let's add that currently, in terms of the number of turbines being installed, Poland ranks as one of the most dynamically developing markets in the European Union. But where will work begin in 2026? Below, we provide specific municipalities and towns.
Miejska Górka
The first onshore wind farm worth mentioning will be established in the Miejska Górka municipality, in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship. – in terms of size, it will be the second largest in Poland. It is known that it will be built thanks to the Tauron company and will comprise a total of 53 turbines with a total capacity of 190.8 MW. Their height is to be 134 m, and the capacity of each of them – 3.6 MW. When the farm is commissioned, it will be an important element of the energy mix. Let us add that it is being built on flat terrain, which in turn allows for efficient energy production.
Sieradz and Nowa Brzeźnica
New farms will also be established in the Łódź Voivodeship – we are talking about Sieradz and Nowa Brzeźnica. Regarding the first city, there are 8 turbines involved, with 2 having a capacity of 2 MW and the remaining 6 having a capacity of 3.3 MW. This will enable almost 22,000 households to be powered by green energy. It should be noted that this is the most productive wind farm in Tauron's portfolio.
In the case of Nowa Brzeźnica, 9 wind turbines with a total capacity of 19.6 MW will be built. Energy from this source will reach 19,000 households. In this locality, the company Tauron is also responsible for the construction of the entire investment, which aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2040.
Mirosławiec
However, it is not only Polish companies that are overseeing the construction of onshore wind farms. Danish The company Eurowind Energy has begun work in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the municipality of Mirosławiec.. It is intended to expand its project portfolio and erect a wind farm, within which 4 Vestas turbines will be built – their total capacity will be around 14 MW. It is also said that the service life in this case will be 25 years. At the same time, it is also planned to supply approximately 10,000 households with energy annually.
Where will work continue in 2026?
Work on wind farms will continue in 2026, including in Nowogródek Pomorski, near the aforementioned Mirosławiec – there, 13 Vestas turbines are to be installed with a total capacity of 28.6 MW. The farm is to be commissioned in the first months of 2027 and will cover the energy needs of 17,000 households. Thanks to it, PLN 1.5 million is expected to flow into the commune annually. It is worth noting that preparations began in this case at the end of 2025, but it was in that year that they gathered full momentum.
Where will wind farms not be built?
The aforementioned company, Eurowind Energy, also planned to erect 26 wind turbines in the Opole region, specifically in the Cisek municipality. The residents decided, however, to conduct a survey, the results of which clearly indicated that there was no agreement for this investment to go ahead. The councillors then rejected the idea of building it.
Interestingly, wind farms were also planned to be built on State Forest land. – forest districts such as Nowa Sól, Sława Śląska and Skwierzyna were involved. As it turns out, the Supreme Audit Office found that this project was illegal.

2026 could prove to be a very significant year for Polish energy. On the one hand, there is growing interest from major players in wind farms, and on the other, there are no shortages of disputes regarding them. However, we will closely follow how the energy transition slowly becomes a part of our everyday lives.
