This is a groundbreaking project that will not only increase the country's energy security but also boost the local economy, create jobs and contribute to the reduction of CO emissions.<\/strong><strong>\u2082.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Economic significance and local contribution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Baltic Power is the largest infrastructure project in Poland's history, with a value of approximately PLN 20 billion. It is assumed that at least 21% of the investment value will go to Polish companies. The project involves, among others, a turbine nacelle factory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vestas.com\/en\/pages\/szczecin-visit-polish\">Vestas<\/a> in Szczecin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tele-fonika.com\/\">Tele-Fonika Kable<\/a> in Bydgoszcz and shipyards in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stocznia.gdynia.pl\/index.php\">Gdynia<\/a> i <a href=\"https:\/\/gdanskshipyard.pl\/\">Gda\u0144sk<\/a> producing steel components. The investment stimulates the development of the domestic maritime industry and, at the same time, lays the foundations for a new sector of the economy \u2013 offshore wind energy. This energy transformation, thanks to Baltic Power, will strengthen the country's energy security by increasing the share of renewable sources in the national system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical specifications and construction schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Baltic Power farm is located approximately 23 km north of the coast, in the vicinity of \u0141eba and Choczewo. Across an area of 130 km\u00b2, equivalent to the surface area of Gdynia, 76 Vestas wind turbines are being erected. Each of them has a capacity of 15 MW and a height exceeding 250 metres. <strong>The total installed capacity will be 1140 MW.<\/strong>, which will allow for the satisfaction of the energy needs of approximately 1.5 million households. The construction of the onshore infrastructure began in 2023, and offshore works started in early 2025. In the second half of 2025, the installation of turbines and offshore substations commenced. The completion of the investment and the start of commercial energy production are planned for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employment and development of the offshore sector in Poland<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Baltic Power project has a significant impact on the labour market and skills development in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psew.pl\/wszystkie-rece-na-poklad-sektor-offshore-potrzebuje-polskiego-lancucha-dostaw-i-zagranicznego-know-how\/\">offshore sector<\/a> in Poland. The service base in \u0141eba will provide stable employment for at least 30 years, supporting the farm's operation. In Szczecin, Vestas' turbine factory has created over 600 jobs. The investment also generates demand for specialists in engineering, logistics, service, and environmental research. Baltic Power has become an impetus for the construction of a domestic supply chain for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.pl\/web\/morska-energetyka-wiatrowa\/program-rozwoju-morskich-farm-wiatrowych\">Offshore wind energy<\/a>, engaging Polish companies in the production of components, transport, design, and technical services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Environmental aspects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once operational, the Baltic Power farm will generate approximately 4 TWh of energy annually, which will cover around 3% of the country's demand and avoid the emission of approximately 2.8 million tonnes of CO\u2082 per year. The farm's location 23 km from the shore minimises its impact on the landscape and tourism. During construction, solutions were implemented to limit the investment's environmental impact, including bird monitoring, air curtains to reduce underwater noise, and measures to prevent disruption to marine life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social acceptance and information activities surrounding investments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Baltic Power investment is accompanied by a broad information campaign aimed at building social acceptance and countering disinformation. Investors are actively debunking myths, for example, concerning the alleged use of old turbines or the negative impact of the farm on fishing. In reality, the turbines are new, and the project takes into account the interests of the fishing industry \u2013 implemented <a href=\"https:\/\/balticpower.pl\/dla-rybakow\">Shipowner compensation programme<\/a>, whose activities have been restricted. An example of good cooperation with local communities is \u0141eba, where a service base is being built, providing jobs and long-term support for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Baltic Power as a pillar of energy transformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baltic Power is a groundbreaking investment that symbolises Poland's energy transformation. The wind energy project combines climate, economic, and social benefits, paving the way for the development of the entire offshore wind sector in Polish Baltic waters.
